'Self Love,' is an autobiographical installation that navigates the complex terrain of substance reliance, happiness, and the desire for self-acceptance.
This piece emerges from a personal stage characterized by the heavy consumption of legal substances, a time when medication was not just a path to recovery but a bridge to a dreamland of vivid experiences and temporary freedom. It reflects on the differences of seeking solace in medication, where the pursuit of happiness in a drowsy state of mind raises painful questions about the nature of self-love and the unintended harm I have inflict upon myself.

Having the capsules suspended from the ceiling, arranged in a circle that ascends and descends, you witness the infinite cycle of substance reliance—a visual metaphor for the repetitive and often inescapable nature of addiction. The mountain of pills represents the overwhelming scale of consumption, further emphasizing the depth of dependency.
This installation is not just an artistic expression but it is also a narrative of survival and reflection. It represents the only rope that pulled me through a challenging period, a double-edged sword that offered salvation yet fostered consumption. This piece questions whether it is possible to find harmony within myself and love myself in healthier ways, or whether I am doomed to remain in the loop of legal substance abuse forever.
My journey, bridging fragmented memories with the stark reality of substance dependence. It is a reflection, to reconsider the definitions of self-love and the extents needed to achieve it, often overlooking the potential consequences. Having to navigate the challenges of loving and caring in a world fraught with contradictions.
